Afterlive — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 June 2026

Afterlive ("the app", "we", "us") helps you rediscover the photos and videos from the live shows you've been to — concerts, comedy, theatre and more — by matching them against your calendar, and organising them by performer, location and date.

The short version: everything happens on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, and we never collect or upload your photos, videos or calendar.

Who is responsible

Afterlive is provided by the app's developer. If you have any questions about this policy or your privacy, contact us at support@afterlive.app.

We do not collect your personal data

Afterlive has no backend and no user accounts. We do not operate servers that receive, store, or process your data. Specifically:

All data the app creates (the list of shows it has matched, links to your photos, and your settings) is stored locally on your device in the app's private storage.

Information the app accesses on your device

To do its job, the app asks your operating system for permission to read:

PermissionWhyWhat happens to it
Photos & videos To find and display the media from your shows Read on-device only. Never uploaded. The app stores references (identifiers) to your media, not copies.
Calendar To find the events you attended so it can match photos to them Read on-device only, never modified, never uploaded. You choose which calendars are scanned, and can change this any time in Settings.

The app does not read your photos' location (GPS) data and does not track your location. You can grant, limit, or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's system settings. The app works with limited photo access and lets you add shows manually if you prefer not to grant calendar access.

Identifying performers and venues

To turn a calendar event into a recognisable show, the app sometimes needs to look up public information. When it does, it sends only the name in question — a performer name or a venue name (taken from your calendar entry or typed by you) — to a third-party service. It never sends your photos, videos, location, GPS coordinates, identity, or any account information (there is no account).

These look-ups may include:

The app uses the result to label your show, and stores only the result (for example, a venue name and city). These third parties receive only the name needed for the look-up and process it under their own privacy policies:

Affiliate links

Some ticket and merchandise links in the app are affiliate links (tickets via Ticketmaster's affiliate programme through Impact; merchandise through Awin). If you tap one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. We do not share any personal data with these partners. When you follow an affiliate link you leave the app and visit a third-party website that is governed by its own privacy policy.

Data retention and deletion

Because all app data lives on your device, you are always in control of it. At any time you can open Settings → Delete All Data to permanently and irreversibly remove everything the app has stored: matched shows, photo links, and settings. Uninstalling the app also removes all of its local data.

Deleting Afterlive's data never deletes your actual photos, videos, or calendar events — those remain untouched on your device.

Your rights

We do not hold any of your personal data on a server, so there is nothing for us to export or erase on your behalf. Under the GDPR and similar laws, your right to access and your right to erasure are satisfied directly on your device: all your data is visible in the app, and Delete All Data erases it completely.

Children

Afterlive is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and publish the new version at this URL. Material changes will be reflected in a new app release.
